FAQ

Questions coaches ask.

Quick answers about rotations, manual subs, player minutes, offline use, Android, and beta testing.

What is Sub Boss?

Sub Boss is a basketball coaching app for planning rotations, managing substitutions, tracking player minutes, and adapting your game plan in real time.

Does Sub Boss replace coaching decisions?

No. You stay in charge of strategy, player development, substitutions, and every final call.

Sub Boss supports those decisions — letting you allocate adjusted minutes to individual players, and flag stronger players as Finishers so they're available when the game is on the line.

Does Sub Boss guarantee equal playing time?

Sub Boss creates fair, balanced rotations based on the settings you provide. This typically results in near-equal minutes, but individual adjustments made by the coach — such as boosted or reduced minutes — will affect the final split.

Can I manually change substitutions?

Yes. You can override any planned substitution at any point during the game.

After a manual sub, you choose what happens next: return to the original planned rotation, or recalculate from the current situation. If you recalculate, Sub Boss rebuilds the remaining rotations around your original minute targets and settings — picking up from where the game actually is, not where it was supposed to be.

Either way, your coaching intentions stay intact — even when the game doesn't go to plan.

Can I adjust minutes for individual players?

Yes. Minutes can be boosted or reduced per player — useful for managing development needs, rewarding attitude and effort, or giving extra court time to a player in form.

What are Finishers?

Finishers are the players you want on court when the game is close and the clock is running down.

Sub Boss factors Finishers into the rotation plan from the start — giving them a slight minute boost so they're not sitting out early, and ensuring they're available to close out the game.

Does Sub Boss work offline?

Yes. Fully offline. No internet connection needed during games.

How do I become a beta tester?

Apply via the Early Access / Beta Testers page. Beta testers get early access to new versions and help shape the app before public release.
